Sarah Gootee, LMFTA
Outpatient Therapist
Steele Creek
Hello! My name is Sarah Gootee and I am an experiential therapist who supports adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-criticism, burnout, and emptiness from years of minimizing their own needs and living at battle with themselves. I partner with my clients to embrace who they are and what they need with compassion and witness their already complete wholeness.
In the therapy room, I bring my own authentic warmth and personality to help clients feel a sense of security and empowerment as they explore how their lived experiences have impacted the beliefs they have about themselves, other people in their life, and the world around them, as well as the relationships they have with their own overwhelming emotions, challenging behaviors, and physical body. I lovingly empower clients to examine how these relationships are impacting the ways in which they are actually showing up in their everyday lives, and to compassionately make the necessary changes to live a life that is more aligned with who they truly are.
I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco, and currently hold a LMFTA license in North Carolina. I use an integrative approach to therapy, combining traditional talk therapy with experiential approaches, such as mindfulness, parts work, and somatic tools to holistically work with clients and increase the mind/body connection.
Starting this process with someone new, whether you’ve been to therapy before or not, brings up all kinds of emotions- that’s totally normal! I commend you for being here, and I’m right by your side as we kick off this new adventure ahead. I can’t wait to meet you, see you soon!
